• Take Note

take note phrase to notice something and try to remember it because you think it is important MacMillan Thesaurus The first week of NaNoWriMo is nearly over. I’m actually keeping a good pace despite restarting my project three days in with something else that had kept my attention more easily. I will eventually get that story written, but I’m not stupid enough to challenge the universe when things don’t line up for me to complete it without it feeling forced. So I decided to sit back and take note of what was going on. I enjoyed the story, but I needed to do more research, and while that is kind…

  • Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! Tonight is the night that (most places) are going to have little ghosts, ghouls and such going door to door for tasty treats. Tomorrow, well, for writers, it’s NaNoWriMo season. A unique version of hell where we try to get 50,000 words in a month. I’ve done it with varying levels of success over the last 10 years, and this year, I decided to try again. That, thankfully, is almost done its course and things are finally getting back on track. If you follow my parenting adventures over at Shiny Mommy, you’ll know that my daughter was just diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. The other reason why…

  • At My Desk…

I’ve stepped away for a while in writing. I had to, with the little one having the first Halloween that she was ever really able to take part in. It was worth it. Stepping away from the desk, though, meant that I stepped away from a lot of things – not just writing.  After last year, and the emotional and physical turmoil that found itself at my doorstep, I vetoed the simple thought of participating in NaNo. My life, while calming down, isn’t at the point where I can even think about getting into more than a few words scribbled down a day, or at least something creative.  So, here…
