Rest

Rest - words that read pause on a grey background

To everything turn, turn, turn

There is a season turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose

Under heaven

Turn Turn Turn (To Everything There is a Season) – Pete Seeger

My mind keeps coming back to that song (and Bible Verse) this year. This year has been a time for rest. Rest in writing, rest in growing things.

Like most of us, I’ve not had a lot of energy this year, the ongoing pandemic has really stressed me out, and add onto that my father being diagnosed with cancer, which was followed by someone who I’ve never interacted with, never said much of anything about to anyone beyond a “Yep.” deciding that there was a vast conspiracy against them and defaming me. That really sapped any energy I may have had for the summer. It really affected my mental health in a bad bad way. I had and have a wonderful support network who upheld me and for that, I am eternally grateful.

I decided to talk about toxic people and making healthy boundaries because I’ve been through enough shit in my life and am finally at the point where I can rest, where I can help others who are going through that right now.

But, rest. Rest has been the overarching theme of my year. Rest has helped my mental health get better, helped me to heal old wounds, to realize where the hurts that I still need to heal are and work on that. That I am able to save my energy for things that need it right now.

As we watch the end of the year wind down, I will be starting my podcast, with my first episode December 9th. I am very excited about it. I finally have my internet stable enough that I can upload, which is what has been keeping me from doing a lot of online work right now.

So, to close out, I give you a cover of that legendary Byrds song by a Canadian. I hope you enjoy it and that you have a good rest of the week!
